My August Birchbox arrived! Time for an unboxing.
The inner box is super cute – designed to look like a pool for a summer theme.
The first thing you see is a coupon for a free makeup remover with a Marcelle purchase. I never use these coupons because I don’t order products through Birchbox – I tend to use Sephora, Ulta or Amazon for prices and samples and convenience (free shipping, etc.)
Next up is the card that describes the box’s theme – summer! – and lists all the products and their full-size price.
And then, the products:
The product I’m most excited to try is the St. Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower.
I’ve been hearing about this – it’s basically a tanning lotion that you apply in the shower and then rinse off after 3 minutes. A full-size tube is $25.
And the product I’m least excited about? The Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk – Natural Tint. Mine’s for brown to dark hair.
First of all, I’m not a huge dry shampoo user and I seem to have amassed way more of them than I will ever use. Secondly, because of the way the box was gifted to me, I don’t think they synced my profile with the profile I had last year, so every box has at least one duplicate item in it, and this month, it was this dry shampoo. So it will probably never get used. It seems to be a popular choice, though. Full-size is $20.
Next, the Flash Cream Radiant Primer.
I’m always game to try a new primer. Full-size is $28.
There’s also a Scalisi Skincare Anti-Aging Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30.
It’s a good thing I get samples like this because I don’t tend to use many anti-aging products – I’m still more worried about breaking out. But at $65 for full-size, I’m never going to buy it myself…
And finally, theBalm cosmetics Balm Desert Bronzer/Blush.
This is supposed to be a bronzer and blush in one and the package is so tiny and cute. It opens like a little book. I’m excited to try it, except, er…
The actual surface of the sample is so teensy weensy I feel like I’ll have to sweep my brush across it for days to pick up enough to use. Full-size is $21.
Well that’s it for this month’s box, a couple of things I’m looking forward to trying, and as always just opening it is half the fun! If you’re interested in trying it out, here’s my link: https://www.birchbox.com/invite/steelelifewithkids
